“THUNDER IN THE TROPICS” – 400 THUNDER SPORTSMAN DRAG RACING SERIES – OCTOBER 7

The 400 Thunder Sportsman Drag Racing Series hits Far North Queensland on October 7, giving local competitors an opportunity to race for the coveted gold and silver Christmas Tree trophies which are only available at 400 Thunder rounds. This event, being part of a national series, is sure to attract competitors from far and wide so will ensure plenty of exciting on-track action.

This event will include a Test & Tune on Friday night and Saturday morning.

Food, bar and camping available.

Event details are as follows:

Times

Competitor/camping gates open 2pm – 9pm Friday & 7am Saturday
Scrutineering from 4pm – 7pm Friday & 8am – 11am Saturday
Spectator gates open 8:30am Saturday
Test & Tune from 6pm – 9pm Friday & 9am – 12pm Saturday
Racing starts 1pm Saturday

Brackets & Prize Money

Street* – open to all street cars that don’t comply with Super Street rules (i.e. that either run 13 seconds or slower or run quicker than 13 seconds but don’t run a muffler). *Note that the Street bracket is not part of the national series so competitors will win a alternative trophy (not a gold or silver Christmas Tree). – $100/$50
Super Street – class for street cars with dial-in of 10.00 – 12.99 seconds. Must have muffler fitted and cannot have delay box. – $200/$100
Super Sedan – class for sedan-based vehicles with dial-in of 8.50 – 10.99 seconds. Can have open exhaust and delay box. – $400/$200
Modified – class for dragsters, altereds and hot rods. Any dial-in. – $400/$200
Top Sportsman – class for sedan-based vehicles with dial-in of 8.99 or quicker. – $500/$250
Modified Bike – class for all street or race bikes. Any dial-in. – $200/$100
Competition Bike – class for race bikes running on index system (competitors who usually run in Comp Bike at Springmount Rounds should just enter Modified Bike if they wish to stick to dial-your-own racing). – $400/$200
Junior Dragster (as per Australian IHRA rules) – $200/$100
Super Gas (as per Australian IHRA rules) – $400/$200
Pro Radial (as per Australian IHRA rules) – $400/$200
Super Stock (to run off national index) – $600/$300
Competition (to run off national index) – $600/$300
Supercharged Outlaws (as per Australian IHRA rules) – $600/$300

– Brackets will be dependant upon entries and may not be run where insufficient entries are received.

Spectator, pit crew and camping passes are to be purchased on the gate.

Race Format

Three (3) rounds of qualifying followed by eliminations.

Additional Competitor Information

Nominate your car or bike at http://www.springmountraceway.com/events/400-thunder-sportsman-round/. Note that there are three (3) options – “Test & Tune only”, “Race” or “Test & Tune and Race”. The Test & Tune will be run from 6pm – 9pm Friday night and again from 9am – 12pm on Saturday morning. The entrant fee for the Test & Tune covers either or both of these sessions, but does not cover racing which starts at 1pm. Select “Test & Tune only” if you do not wish to be part of the 400 Thunder round. The “Race” option covers racing in the 400 Thunder round which will include three (3) rounds of qualifying plus eliminations. This will run from 1pm until approximately 8pm on Saturday. The “Test & Tune and Race” option covers both the Test & Tune and Race sessions.
